How much dry pasta per person?
It depends on the type of pasta as the shapes and sizes vary. As a rule of thumb, 2 oz of dry pasta is recommended per serving.

How to measure pasta without using a kitchen scale?
If you don't have a weighing scale nearby, you can measure dry pasta per person using measuring cups. Earlier, we learned that 2 ounces of dry pasta is the preferred amount per person. However, to make things a little bit complicated, for different types of pasta with various shapes and sizes, 2 oz does not look identical. For example, 2 oz of dry elbows pasta is equal to 1/2 cup whereas, 2 oz of dry rigatoni pasta is equal to 3/4 cup.
How much dry pasta per person cups?
You can follow the below table as a guide when cooking pasta specially for a large gathering where you could mess up with the measurements.
How to read the table?
Example 1:
For short-shaped penne, a single serving is equal to 2 oz or 56.67g and you can measure it using a cup which the same would be equal to 2/3 cups of dry pasta. Also, it will yield to 1 1/4 cups after cooking.
Example 2:
For 4 people, the required amount of short-shaped penne is equal to 4 times of single servings. So, you have to multiply the values by 4. Therefore, for 4 people, the required penne equals 8 oz (2 oz *4) or 226.68g (56.67g *4) and you can measure it using a cup which the same would be equal to 2 2/3 cups (2/3 * 4) of dry pasta. Also, it will yield to 5 cups (1 1/4 cups * 4) after cooking.

How much dry spaghetti per person?
For long shapes such as Angel Hair, Fettuccine, Rigate, Linguine, Linguine Fini, Spaghetti, and Spaghetti Rigati we need to use a different method.
Pasta Spoon?
You have already used the pasta spoon to stir, scoop and serve. And maybe to help the water drain out.
But, did you know that your pasta spoon can be used as a portioning tool? Yes, the hole in the middle of the pasta spoon is roughly the equivalent size of one serving of dry long pasta/spaghetti.
Also, you can take a bunch of dry long pasta and compare the circumference of the bunch with a circumference of a quarter. Roughly, it's the amount of dry spaghetti recommended for a person.
You can follow the below table as a guide when cooking long pasta without messing up with short pasta measurements and yields.
How to read the table?
Example 1:
For long-shaped fettuccine, a single serving is equal to 2 oz or 56.67g and you can measure it by comparing the circumference of the bunch, which the same should be equal to 2 1/8 inches of dry fettuccine. Also, it will yield to 1 cup after cooking.
Example 2:
For 5 people, the required amount of long-shaped fettuccine is equal to 5 times of single servings. So, you have to multiply the values by 5. Therefore, for 5 people, the required penne equals 10 oz (2 oz *5) or 283.35g (56.67g *5) and you can measure it by making 5 bunches with 2 1/8 inch circumferences. Also, it will yield to 5 cups (1 cup * 5) after cooking.
